Congratulations to RedCreeper: Winner of the December Photo Contest
The theme for December was "Your Holiday FJ". RedCreeper walked away from the competition and will be rewarded with $100 in forum dollars to be used with any vendor on the forum.
Due to the hardware issue last Friday, we have some more maintenance to complete on the server. Here's the tech breakdown for those who need to know:
The hosting company is going to remove the old disks from this server (this is the box that became unbootable last week). While the drives are hot-swappable, it appears that the way there had to be connected (in order to boot the OS on the new drives) is not, so they need to take the server down for a brief moment and disconnect them.
The site will be down for approximately 2 hours December 11th, 2008 starting between 8-9am EST.
We had some site downtime due to a problem on one of our servers and the problem is now fixed. Here are the details for all you technical guys.
Basic synopsis: The server had a major hardware component fail (the drive controller). The component was replaced, but due to corrupted started files the Operating System wouldn't boot. The server was then setup again (from scratch) with everything necessary being re-installed and the site-files being restored.
There should be no lost files in this case as I was able to get access to the files on the old drives once the site went down.
Sorry for the inconvenience but these things happen from time to time. We will advise all users of any upcoming maintenance due to todays component failure.
